Football Favorites

With college football kicking off last week and the NFL starting last night I felt it was appropriate to dive into my five most favorite things about college football!

1. ESPN
Yes, I am that girl that gets up every morning with my cup of coffee and watches Sportscenter at least once through (some days more). Once football season begins football takes over 90% of Sportscenter/all of ESPN shows.
ESPN has a magically way of turning nobodies into somebodies. Take Kenny Hill this year, I mean seriously who would have thought the guy replacing Johnny Football would get more media time than even Johnny himself.

2. Football food
We have a few staples at the Eason house that have to be made every football Saturdays. For some reason my mind tells me that calories don't count on Gamedays so I eat and eat and eat all day (which my waistline does not love)!

3. Gameday outfits
One of the best parts of going to a game is planning your outfit. We are heading up to the UT game tomorrow and I have contemplated over my outfit all week!

4. Lee Corso's headgear prediction
I live for this 10 seconds every Saturday morning. You better believe if I can't be near a TV (like tomorrow) I will record all 3 hours of College Gameday for his prediction! Funniest part of the morning!

5. Team Spirit
Growing up my dad was a HUGE Tennessee fan. We spent our Saturdays with the UT game on the TV muted so dad could listen to the radio broadcaster on a portable radio he had set up in the living room. Now, living in Alabama with a husband who LOVES Auburn almost as much as he loves me (almost being the key word), we spend Saturdays glued to the twitter, checking and rechecking any Auburn (and I mean ANY) details, and watching the Auburn game.

I hope everyone has a great weekend and their favorite football team wins, unless your favorite team is playing Tennessee (Arkansas State) or Auburn (San Jose State)!!

Lately

I have been slacking BIG time here on the blog lately, but I am hoping that will change.
The Easons have been pretty busy over the last two weeks so I have lots to catch everyone up on. Disclaimer- this will be a long post :)
Two weekends ago I went to Lebanon for one of my high school friends baby shower (don't even get me started on the fact that I am old enough to have close HS friends that are having babies- slow down time!) I love little get togethers like this. Since I live in Alabama I don't get to come home often and I miss catching up with old friends. The hostesses did such a great job putting this together!
Such a cute idea!
 Pick the due date!
This is Heather (the mom to be) we played HS basketball together. I can't wait to meet her sweet girl. She is due at the beginning of September, but I am hoping sweet Chasity makes an early debut while I am in TN in the middle of August. I am so happy that Heather let me celebrate this special time with her!

While at home I was able to spend some quality time with my family. We had a family dinner at one of my favorite Lebanon restaurants, Gondola! They have the best pizza and salad bar around!
My sweet Grandma Fay and Keegybop
Sunday, Quinn Thomas and I took my grandmother to Cracker Barrel before heading back home. My grandma loves Cracker Barrel and loves to hand out little "goodies" to all the waitress and hostesses. It is so sweet to watch her ball the fruit snack or m&m's in her hand and sneak them to the waitresses like no one can see her.
Y'all... I can't get enough of this sweet face. & that HAIR!!
 Sweet Bea
Quinny loved the toys section of Cracker Barrel (but who doesn't!?)
Last week Z's office had a MASSIVE inspection at their office. They have been preparing for this 2 day inspection for close to 6 months. Thankfully they did AWESOME so we decided a mini-vacay to Atlanta was much needed.
Heading to ATL
We got in town just in time to get a quick bite for dinner and head to the stadium in time for the Friday evening Braves games vs. the Phillies.
We got caught in the rain and we soaked!
Months ago when we started to plan this trip we decided we would go to a water park on Saturday, the weather had a different plan for us. It rained ALL day so we decided to we would try out TopGolf. TopGolf had a 2.5 hour long wait so we had to change our plans again. We ended up going to grab a bite to eat and then going bowling (one of Z's favorites).
We stopped at the Salt Factory to eat and it was AMAZING! The inside of the restaurant had a very industrial feel with exposed brick and ceilings. It was definitely someplace I wish they had in Montgomery, I could so see myself meeting up with some of my girl friends and having lunch here. I had a salad since I knew we would be eating pretty heavy for dinner and Z had a pizza. The salad was great but the pizza was (as my grandmother says) something to write home about. Of course I didn't take pictures of the inside of the restaurant or the pizza (blogger fail!) so you will just have to take my word for it.
Outside of The Salt Factory is Roswell
After lunch we heading to the MAIN EVENT entertainment. I was under the impression we would be heading to a run of the mill bowling alley, which this definitely was not. The whole inside was brand new with laser tag, bowling, pool tables, and a massive arcade. Needless to say, Z and I had a blast at the arcade, and when I say a blast I mean we played pretty much EVERY arcade game that would be acceptable for adults (we are both HUGE kids). Bowling was not quite as much fun as we had projected but there bowling alley was extremely high tech.
Is this Thor or my husband?
While planning for this trip our first must was a brazilian steakhouse. If you haven't already notice, Zach and I are big foodies, we plan our whole lives around what we are eating next. Fogo de Chao in Atlanta is a favorite brazilian steakhouse of ours and it did not disappoint this time. You can never go wrong with lots of good food and great conversation. We left stuffed and happy, a prefect end to our great mini-vacay.
We had to make a stop at the Cupcake ATM after dinner, I mean can anyone really pass this up!?!
Now for the most exciting news! On our way home on Sunday Z received a text from his younger brother Dan with a picture attached. Z opened it up and it was a picture of sweet baby Myleigh (our 1 year old niece) standing next to a chalkboard with "I'm going to be a BIG sister" written on it! Z immediately called Dan to confirm that the picture what we thought it meant and it did, Dan and Haley are pregnant!!! We are so excited for their little family to expand. Congratulations Dan and Haley!!!
Check out this ADORABLE picture Haley posted on her facebook to announce the news.
How cute is she!?! I die for BIG bows :)
Next week I have some pretty big news to share so check back in!

Until next time,
J

Weekend Wrap Up {4th of July}

Is the weekend really over already? What is the saying? Time flies when you are having fun, this was definitely the case for us this weekend. Let's jump right on in...

Thursday:
Zach got off a couple of hours early so we headed up to Haleyville, AL right after I got off of work. I have started to really like this drive, it is about 2.5 hrs away and gives Z and I just enough time to get caught up but not long enough that the drive becomes a chore. I loathe to drive, but with my family living 4+ hours away and Big Z's living 2.5 hrs away I am constantly driving or riding to see family.
While I hate driving, my sweet Aubs LOVES to ride in cars. LOVES IT! We cannot open the door while Aubs is outside without him jumping in.

Once we arrived at Z's parent's house we found his mom and dad outside by their pool enjoying the unusually comfortable temps. We, of course, joined in and spent the remainder of the evening outside. D & R (Z's mom and dad) have the perfect outdoor setup that provides for great evenings and mornings relaxing and enjoying nature. We love sitting outside and chatting with D & R and Aubie loves running around chasing all their birds that visit their numerous bird houses, so everyone is happy.

Friday: July 4th!!
Big Z and I both slept in until 8:30, which is extremely unusual considering when we are at home we are up no later than 7. We both grabbed a cup of coffee and ventured outside to enjoy the weather.
Z's brother and sister in law came over that morning to spend the day by the pool and grill out. They have a little baby girl, Myleigh, who turned one in April and is as cute as she can be! She just started walking, or should I say RUNNING, so we all spent the day trying to keep up with her.
We spent the day laying by the pool, watching Big Z and his brother do tricks off the diving board, grilling out, and laying out some more. It was a pretty perfect Friday if you ask me.
Haleyville, is a very small town, and this year they decided to not put on a fireworks show so we didn't see a single firework but we did hear a few :)

Saturday:
Saturday was a lot of the same as Friday, laying by the pool, good conversation, lots of fun. I did manage to show off some of my diving board tricks from my childhood (what is it about a diving board that turns us all into kids). Z & I even gave each other scores (please tell me y'all did this growing up!?).
Zach and I started our trek back to "the Gump" around 5. Not a lot went on on Saturday but none the less it was another great day.
Life is rough being a dog ;)
Happy Happy Happy Aubie laying by the pool (in the shade to stay cool)
My sweet Aubs definitely enjoyed his weekend at his grandparents house. I don't think he moved from this position the whole way home

Sunday:
Big Z and I came back home early so that we could work our Nursery duty at church Sunday morning. I love getting to help out at our church nursery, it is our small way of giving back and also getting in my baby fix for the month ;).
Z has been wanting a new sprinkler for our yard so after church we headed to Lowe's to pick a new one. We oogled over some new grills and patio furniture but we (luckily) made it out with just the new fancy sprinkler.
Sunday evening we ran by one of Z's coworker's house to meet his new baby, drop off their gift and some pizza so that they could enjoy the night off of cooking.
Y'all... if this doesn't give me baby fever, nothing will ;)

Another amazing weekend with my sweet, funny, goofy husband in the books. Can we have a 3 day weekend every weekend!?
What all fun things did you guys do over your long weekend?

Until next time!

Summer 2014 Bucket List

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (Can I just spend my entire summer here!?)
Today I am going to share my summer bucket list. I read this on one of the blogs I read regularly and knew I had to share my own! I always have so much I want to accomplish during the summer but never get around to writing them down and then a few weeks later I have completely forgot what all I wanted to do. So without further ado here we go!

  • Workout a minimum of 3x a week
  • Go on dates with my husband
  • Make homemade ice cream

Weekly Wrap Up!

Wheww! What a fun, busy, crazy week it has been at the Eason house! Here are 5 things that went on this week!

1. Last Friday evening I met my mom in Cullman, AL to pick up my niece (Keegan) and nephew (Quinn-Thomas) to spend the week in Prattville with Zach and I! Needless to say, I have been counting down to this weekend for quite some time now. I love spending time with these 2 more than just about anything (except spending time with my Z). While they both can be WILD & CRAZY, they both give the best hugs and kisses and are the most adorable kids to be around the majority of the time! :)

2. We spent lots of time swimming with the babies at our community pool. K and QT love to swim and have so much fun playing in the pool together, and with Zach. Watching K & QT jump in the pool swim to side and do it all over again never seemed to get old. ("one, two, three here I go!")

3. VBS at Zach and my church, Centerpoint, started Sunday and lasted till Tuesday. Luckily, it was in the evening so I was able to help out in K's 4 & 5 year old "red" group. I so enjoyed helping out & singing and dancing to all the VBS songs and K definitely enjoyed attending. As we were leaving Tuesday evening she said to me, "when do we get to come back?" And when I told her that we would come back next year she lowered her head and said "ahhh, we can't come back tomorrow?" I love getting to have a little part in sharing Christ with her.

4. My mom came in town on Wednesday to pick up the littles so that night we took her to our favorite restaurant here in Prattville, The Catfish House! Once again it was so good and the service was amazing! If anyone is ever visiting Montgomery or heading down to the beach and are wanting a meal like your southern grandma would make stop here! They serve their sides family style before you get your meal so my one advice is that you share your meal with someone, I always get so full on the sides (because they are that amazing!) and never get to enjoy their fresh seafood. This time my mom and shared and I left feeling extremely satisfied! They also have old "tractors" and a big fish tank to entertain the littles, so everyone is happy!

5. This week I learned a lot about parenting. It is hard, like REALLY REALLY hard. All you Moms, Mamas, Mommys out there rock! SERIOUSLY! This is the very first time I have ever taken care of K & QT without either my sister (their mom) or my mom (Mimi) and boy am I exhausted sitting here writing this blog. Children require your absolute attention and love. They test your patience and your will. But I would not trade this week spending time with K & QT and watching my husband love these 2 and be loved on by K & QT.
Zach amazed me at how well he did playing "caretaker" while I was at work. Watching these 3 interact made me love each one a little more than I did before (which I definitely did not think was possible). K & QT think Z is amazing, and Z is so proud of the little things the littles do. My heart is so full thinking about these week.

I hope everyone enjoyed their week as much as I did :)
