Summer 2014 Bucket List

Punta Cana, Dominican Republic (Can I just spend my entire summer here!?)
Today I am going to share my summer bucket list. I read this on one of the blogs I read regularly and knew I had to share my own! I always have so much I want to accomplish during the summer but never get around to writing them down and then a few weeks later I have completely forgot what all I wanted to do. So without further ado here we go!

Summer 2014 bucket list:

  • Blog at least once a week
  • Go to the Montgomery & Prattville Farmer's Market
  • Cook a new "summer" recipe once a week
  • Workout a minimum of 3x a week
  • Go on dates with my husband
  • Make homemade ice cream
  • Redo a piece of furniture
  • Read at least 4 books
  • Make a trip up to Peach Park to get ice cream! (if you couldn't tell, I love ice cream J)
  • Go to a farm a pick berries
  • Go to the library (& finally get a library card for Prattville)
  • Make fresh squeezed lemonade
  • Sew an outfit for Keegan
  • Use my embroidery machine more
  • Go to a painting class
  • Start a new devotional for women
  • Lay pool side and relax with my sweet husband as much as possible

Writing up this list up has made me even MORE excited about summer, which officially begins in just 3 days (June 21st), than normal. Comment below and share some of your own items on your summer bucket list.

Until next time!

Weekly Wrap Up!

Wheww! What a fun, busy, crazy week it has been at the Eason house! Here are 5 things that went on this week!

1. Last Friday evening I met my mom in Cullman, AL to pick up my niece (Keegan) and nephew (Quinn-Thomas) to spend the week in Prattville with Zach and I! Needless to say, I have been counting down to this weekend for quite some time now. I love spending time with these 2 more than just about anything (except spending time with my Z). While they both can be WILD & CRAZY, they both give the best hugs and kisses and are the most adorable kids to be around the majority of the time! :)

2. We spent lots of time swimming with the babies at our community pool. K and QT love to swim and have so much fun playing in the pool together, and with Zach. Watching K & QT jump in the pool swim to side and do it all over again never seemed to get old. ("one, two, three here I go!")

3. VBS at Zach and my church, Centerpoint, started Sunday and lasted till Tuesday. Luckily, it was in the evening so I was able to help out in K's 4 & 5 year old "red" group. I so enjoyed helping out & singing and dancing to all the VBS songs and K definitely enjoyed attending. As we were leaving Tuesday evening she said to me, "when do we get to come back?" And when I told her that we would come back next year she lowered her head and said "ahhh, we can't come back tomorrow?" I love getting to have a little part in sharing Christ with her.

4. My mom came in town on Wednesday to pick up the littles so that night we took her to our favorite restaurant here in Prattville, The Catfish House! Once again it was so good and the service was amazing! If anyone is ever visiting Montgomery or heading down to the beach and are wanting a meal like your southern grandma would make stop here! They serve their sides family style before you get your meal so my one advice is that you share your meal with someone, I always get so full on the sides (because they are that amazing!) and never get to enjoy their fresh seafood. This time my mom and shared and I left feeling extremely satisfied! They also have old "tractors" and a big fish tank to entertain the littles, so everyone is happy!

5. This week I learned a lot about parenting. It is hard, like REALLY REALLY hard. All you Moms, Mamas, Mommys out there rock! SERIOUSLY! This is the very first time I have ever taken care of K & QT without either my sister (their mom) or my mom (Mimi) and boy am I exhausted sitting here writing this blog. Children require your absolute attention and love. They test your patience and your will. But I would not trade this week spending time with K & QT and watching my husband love these 2 and be loved on by K & QT.
Zach amazed me at how well he did playing "caretaker" while I was at work. Watching these 3 interact made me love each one a little more than I did before (which I definitely did not think was possible). K & QT think Z is amazing, and Z is so proud of the little things the littles do. My heart is so full thinking about these week.

I hope everyone enjoyed their week as much as I did :)

Hello Blog World!!

Welcome to The Dixie Volunteer!

I am so excited to finally write my very first blog! I have been contemplating whether or not to write a blog for about a year now, and have finally taken the plunge! One of my favorite things to do is sit down with my iPad and a cup of coffee/tea and read through my long list of blogs I follow! I am hoping to provide a blog that others look forward to reading, as I do with my favorite blogs.

First things first, let me tell you a little bit about myself:

1. My name is Jordan, I am in my early mid-20s.

2. I have been married to Zach (aka BigZ or just "Z") since October 12, 2013 (best day of my life :)) -more to come on this!)

3. I have the most adorable fur baby (I may be a bit biased). On my blog you will probably find lots of sweet Aubie stories (he's our only child so we are a bit obsessed)!!

4. My other obsession is my niece and nephew, Keegan and Quinn Thomas. That is another topic that you will probably read about a lot on this blog.
(I mean, honestly, does it get much more cuter than these two!!!)

5. I am a southern girl through and through and pray I will never have to live above the Mason-Dixon Line! Big hair, southern accents, football weekends, sweet tea & monograms are some of my absolute favorite things!

6. I grew up in Lebanon, TN (30 mins East of Nashville), GO VOLS!, also known as the hometown of Cracker Barrel, if you have never eaten at a Cracker Barrel you are missing out (SERIOUSLY! Best southern food!). I moved to Birmingham, AL to attend school at Samford University. After graduating from Samford in the Dec. 2012 I moved to Montgomery, AL & hopefully will not be here for too much longer :)

7. My husband is a CRAZY Auburn fan, therefore I have been somewhat converted (my vols are still number 1 but I probably spend more time cheering on the tigers). Fall in the Eason household is full of lots of Auburn conversations and counting down the days till we can make the 45 min. trip over to Auburn, AL! (Lots to come on this topic, I'm sure!)

8. DIY jobs, home cooked meals, home decorating, and sewing/embroidering are some of my loves and I wish I had more time to dedicate to these projects. You will hopefully get to read about a lot of my finished projects!

9. I have an addiction to TV shows. Love me some Scandal, Survivor (I have to play this one day), big brother, the voice, pretty much all Real Housewife shows (minus ATL, I just can't get into that one) and many more!! I love to sit back and enjoy some junk TV!

10. Last but definitely not least I am a follower of Christ.

Now, on to my reasons for writing a blog:

1. Most of my family still lives Tennessee and BigZ's family lives in North Alabama so my main reason to start blogging is so they can stay up to date on our lives as newlyweds!

2. I work a desk job M-F and my creative side has been itching to show itself for the past 1.5 years, what better way than writing about my life and fun projects!!

3. With Zach and I just getting married and hopefully starting a family soon, I wanted some place to document all of our huge milestones.

I hope you enjoy reading my blog
